“Urban Design in Cities of the Future”

26-28 July 2010, at the Shanghai World Expo 2010

The Asia-Europe Young Urban Leaders Dialogue (AEYULD) was initially implemented in 2008 in Madrid, Spain, as a program for exchanging ideas and good practices to develop a new way of managing cities. It aimed at creating and developing a sustainable bi-regional network of young leaders, mainly residing in cities of ASEM partner countries in the fields of public administration, business, academe, arts, politics or media. As a follow-up, the 2010 edition of the Dialogue will build on the existing results and follow the recommendations of the participants present in Madrid, focusing on the specific issue of sustainability of cities and urban design.

The program aims to:

- Exchange successful cross-sectoral approaches used in the development of the urban policies in Asian and European cities;

- Contribute to the development of forms of governance that encourage the active participation of young people in their communities;

- Encourage the active involvement of young urban leaders in Urban Networks.

* Deadline for application: Wednesday, 16 June 2010, 1800H (Singapore Time)

YPD Cambodia

YPD Cambodia would like to announce that we have recruited some new YPDC members recently because some of the YPDC members are out of Country.  We need some more members to work for YPD Cambodia organizing projects, training, and so on.  Moreover, a new YPD member name is Nguon, Rothsopal; a social scientist, Entrepreneurship specialist; graduated in summer 2009 (MS in Ecological Economy and Industrial Management), joined YPDC in February 2010. The first activity that she contributed to YPDC was organizing the Kick off seminar of “Sustainable development in cultural diversity” by Europe-Asia Bridge for youth empowerment. These activities were done under the supervision and agreement with YPDC members.

YPD Hanoi

YPD-Hanoi has selected a new Local Country Coordinator; her name is Le Thuy Linh. She will start to organize and lead the YPD-Hanoi from now on with the help of other members and the ex-coordinator.

As you know, the previous Coordinator- Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, was coordinating YPD Hanoi from March 2009 to May 2010. He is a very active and clever. He was helping YPD Hanoi to create many programs and events. Even though Mr. Nguyen Cuong stepped down as coordinator, he will continue to help Ms. Linh move forward with YPD Hanoi.

Ms Linh-YPD Hanoi Coordinator is a young and dynamic leader who has been working actively from 2009. After the annual election in May, all YPD Hanoi members were very happy to choose Ms. Linh as our Coordinator. Ms Linh presented her plan for Hanoi YPD in which there are 2 focus points on human resources and social enterprise. She also prepared questionnaires to all members for providing and improving her plan. We all agree with her plan and will support her as well as do actions for our development.

Thank to Mr. Cuong very much for his time and energy to help YPD-Hanoi to more forward to future. We wish you success in your future career.

Thanks
