YPD France Updates on YPD France: YPD 2010 dates are finalized

All YPD member and YPD friends are invited to join the 8th annual training program in France, from October 22nd to November 2nd 2010 in France. Using the SEE-JUDGE-ACT methodology, the training will create a space for youth critical thinking on their own development in France and participant's country. Immersions programes will deal with many different topics relevant in France and Europe: migration, fair trade, alternatives way of life, urban poverty, social integration of minorities, rural development... At the end of the 7 days program, we will attend an important international meeting in Nancy gathering around 600 French and international young people.

We wish to gather around 40 participants among them 30 international guests from South East Asia, Australia, and Europe. The French team is very involved in the preparation of the training together with partner organizations: RECIT (Network for Citizen Education), CCFD (Catholic Committee against Hunger and for Development), MRJC (Movement for Rural Christian youth).

Please take note, that YPD France won't be able to support plane ticket for participants, teams will have to raise fund in their respective country to send their members.

Call for volunteer:

YPD France is looking for a volunteer for two months starting in September 2010 until the end of the YPD training program. The main task of the volunteer will be to assist the team with the final preparation of the training, this includes : attending meeting with the team, update the international website, prepare documents for the conference kit (leaflet), fund raising, liaison with participants from South East Asia to obtain the visa...

YPD Bangladesh 3rd International Conference on Bangladesh Environment

YPD Bangladesh participated at the Third International Conference on “Bangladesh Environment” was held on Jan 3-4 2010 in Dhaka. Many changes have occurred in the environment of Bangladesh during this period. It is therefore necessary to take stock of the situation and Chart out the course of action for the near future. This program gave proper guideline to us to take preparation for the tuff situation.

The two days program was covered in the different sessions: Plenary Session, Concurrent Session, General Session and Plenary General Session including the topic:

 Climate change & Bangladesh Environment  Energy, Environment & policy  Water & Environment  Sustainable agriculture & environment  Forests & biodiversity  Rivers & wetland, confronting disaster

YPD Cambodia The seminar: exploring sustainable development in diversity: visions from Europe and Asia

The 2rd seminar took place in Cambodia and was organized by YPD Cambodia. The seminar went smoothly from February 1 to 7 2010. The first day of the seminar was a welcome dinner that allowed participants to get to know each other. The next day was presented by the sponsor of the program. On this day, trainers and the steering group met together for discussion and for developing solutions for the whole program. The following day was a presentation day where participants and trainers could exchange their experience on sustainable development in diversity. YPD Cambodia allowed the participants to visit some institutes in Cambodia which let them understand processing in each institutes. Through the evaluation day, we knew that all the participants understood and got more experience from the program. YPD Cambodia was happy to get positive evaluations from participants. In addition, all the participants got a certificate to certify that they participated in the joint the seminar in Cambodia. YPD Cambodia would like to thank all YPD volunteers who helped with the program.

YPD Saigon, Vietnam Pleasure day

This year YPD Saigon is pleased to have one more special member i.e a groom. In January 25th Nhat Nguyet restaurant, HCMC, the owner of the restaurant Mr. Nghia happily married our ex-Country Coordinator, Ms. My Chi. There were about 500 guests of friends and family came to join celebrate her wedding. The YPD Saigon team stirred up the stage with a happy song to wish “our big sister” a happy ever after marriage.

In a Mid-Autumn holiday, we sold moon cakes to do fund raising. After that we bought some Moon cakes and candles to celebrate the Mid-Autumn activities of poor children in District 8 of HoChiMinh? City.

The rest of fund was used in Mid-Autumn to do charity and visit the patients in Ben San, Binh Duong province. All of people in this hospital have Hansen disease. On the Christmas Holiday, the YPD group did a Santa Claus service and delivered gifts to children.

For the year to come, we are planning to develop a social entrepreneurship model to be self sustained as well as to contribute to social changes. We hope to get the support from YPDers who share the same interest.

For the Lunar New Year 2010, we wish Happy New Year to all our YPD friends and Family near and far. We wish you the best for 2010. May you find happiness, success and good fortune.

YPD Karen Upcoming event

The YPD Karen Team is preparing for the 9th Summer Training Program on young people in the Thai-Burma border and inside Burma.

The training will appear on April 14-19, 2010 in Karen Country. The young people from difference places will come together to participate in the training.

The Karen team will give you more updates on the training in next month newsletter. You are all welcome to join the program in person or as a group to support the Karen YPD in many ways.
