YPD Network YPD France
YPD FranceYPD France ( Jeunes Acteurs du Développement ) is an association according to the law 1901. We work in solidarity with people all around the world, and especially with our friends of Southeast Asia involved in the same solidarity net. Currently we are promoting Fair Trade in our country, and we would like to create a network of Fair Trade, to make sure that the products bought in France are made in good social conditions. Each year several people from France take part to the annual training which happens this year in Malaisia. YPD France - Paris Water Festival or Festival de l'OhYPD Paris held a stand at the Festival de l'Oh held at Val de Marne in the Paris suburbs on the weekend of 20-21 May.  The Val de Marne region is named for the Marne river which runs into the Seine river near Paris. Many French regions have launched cooperation programs with developing countries and the Val de Marne has links with Vietnam in Asia. Every year the region holds a Water Festival or Festival de l'Oh (or "eau" which is the French word for water) in which it focuses on water issues in a different part of the world. This year the focus was on water problems in the desert problems of North Africa. YPD Paris was one of many community and solidarity groups which participated in the Festival. Stefan Gigacz reports: Six of us from JAD (YPD) Paris looked after the stand over the weekend - Franz Cotrebil, Souleymane Kane, Jean Joseph Christophe, Xavier Christophe, Thierry Cotrebil and myself. Franz and Souleymane had organised an educational game including a quiz on water issues. We also sold fair trade products from Vietnam.  Our stand had many visitors over the weekend. Hopefully, we have also made some new contacts for YPD. We also started to make YPD known in the community. Next year our stand will be even bigger and better...
